‘If I Die I’m a Legend’: Sergio Brown Mocks Police by Singing Drake Song in New Instagram Video

Police are still searching for the former NFL player after his mother was found dead near her home

Ex-NFL player Sergio Brown on Wednesday posted another Instagram video appearing to mock Illinois police who are trying to track him down after his mother was found dead in what officials have classified as a homicide.

In the latest post to an Instagram account he has been using while on the lam, a shirtless Brown can be seen singing "Legend," by Canadian rapper Drake.

“Oh my God, oh my God, if I die I’m a legend,” the 35-year-old former safety sings, repeating the lyric twice.

"It's too late for my city, I'm the youngest n----- reppin'."

Brown raps the lines as he walks down a sunny street, with palm trees visible behind him. The video's location, however, is tagged as his hometown, Maywood, Ill.

Authorities in the Chicago suburb have been searching for Brown since Saturday, when police found the body of his 73-year-old mother, Myrtle Brown, in a creek behind her home there.

Relatives had called the police after they were unable to contact either of them.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, Myrtle died of "multiple injuries due to assault" and her death has been classified as a homicide.

Wednesday's video follows two others Sergio has posed in recent days from the @intplayerwithapassport Instagram account.

In one, he says he thought his mother was on vacation and calls what happened to her "fake news." He also claims the FBI visited his house and that authorities kidnapped him from his home, twice.

"FBI had to do it, they got the power to do some s--- like that. What the f--- is going on? That is fake news," Sergio says. "Don't come f---ing with me."

A second video, posted Tuesday, Sergio can be seen quoting the Disney movie, "Finding Nemo," repeating its popular line, "Just keep swimming."

An earlier video that has since been removed reportedly showed Sergio with a location tag for Mexico City, Mexico. The Nemo clip was tagged as coming from the Sydney Opera House, which is near where the fictional children's movie takes place.

Maywood police said Tuesday that investigators were aware of at least the video where Sergio makes his "fake news" claims and were working to verify its authenticity.

In the latest video posted Wednesday, Sergio's chest tattoo featuring the name of his hometown, "Maywood," is visible. The tattoo is also visible in older pictures of Sergio reviewed by The Messenger.

A police spokesperson did not respond to questions on Wednesday.

Sergio's neighbor told WBBM earlier this week the former football player did not seem like himself and burned his mother's clothes before he disappeared.

Carlos Cortez, who lives near Myrtle's home and said he last saw the Browns on Thursday, told the outlet he provided investigators with footage from his security video camera.

“They seen him taking out the trash, and they seen him have a bonfire where he burned all her clothes,” Cortez said.

He said Sergio's behavior in the footage appears to be in line with what Sergio's relatives have told him about the former football player.

“They said he wasn’t himself the past few months," Cortez said. "He was out of his mind."

Sergio played six seasons in the NFL prior to his retirement in 2016.
