It is widely known that if you've got a problem with thorny or skin-irritating vegetation overtaking your yard, you can hire some goats and they'll eat the problem for you.

It is less widely known that you can hire an entire army of goats to help with your landscaping.

However, as the fine folks of the Erwin Farms neighborhood in McKinney, Texas, now know, goats don't care much for confinement and are prone to escape.

After hogs trampled through their yards in January, Erwin Farms residents were met Sunday morning by a gaggle of at least 40 goats who'd escaped from a nearby development.

According to WFAA, the goats had been enlisted to eradicate the vegetation at the development, which helps reduce the likelihood of wildfires.

Multiple house cameras captured video of the goats grazing their way through the neighborhood.

"They were coming down the road really slowly and kinda chilled out right here," Mike Danielson, a longtime resident in the neighborhood, told WFAA.

Several bushes and some trees were damaged by the goats, who eventually returned to the larger group of goats working over at the development.

The firm that owns the cloven hoofed creatures did replace the parts of the yard they had destroyed.

This spring, a goat got loose in a New Jersey town, making many folks uncomfortable.
