A man faces felony hate crime and malicious mischief charges after attacking an Asian art and history museum in Seattle.

Craig Milne, 76, allegedly used a sledgehammer to smash windows at the Wing Luke Museum Thursday night. The museum was open at the time and people were touring an exhibit.

Prosecutors said the attack caused more than $100,000 in damage to the museum in the Chinatown neighborhood of Seattle.

Witnesses said Milne said he had come to cause damage and the “Chinese have ruined my life.”

When police arrived they said he continued making racially biased statements and allegedly said, “The Chinese have tortured and tormented me for 14 years. I don’t regret anything I did here.”

Milne was being held on $30,000 bail.

This is not the first time Milne has been accused of a hate crime, the Seattle Times reported.

In 2013, Milne was arrested for allegedly attacking and repeatedly punching an Asian man in the locker room at a recreation center outside of Seattle.

The Wing Luke is an art and history museum, which focuses on the culture, art and history of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders.

It remained closed on Monday “to allow for continued sensemaking of Thursday's vandalism” a note on the museum’s website stated.

It went on to say, “We appreciate the community support that we have received over the last few days.”
