Hamas claims it launched a long-range rocket from the Gaza Strip at Eilat, Israel’s southernmost city.

Residents reported hearing an explosion, indicating the rocket may have landed in an open area or exploded in the air, the Times of Israel reported.

No sirens sounded in Eilat before the blast. Resorts in the city draw visitors to Israel’s Red Sea coastline.

The rocket was reported to be an Ayyash 250, which were first fired at Israel last week. The Iron Dome intercepted one fired at northern Israel.

The Israel Defense Forces has not publicly reacted to the report of the strike aimed at Eilat.

Palestinian militants have fired over 7,000 rockets at Israel since the start of the war, according to Israel.

Israel has conducted extensive daily strikes on Gaza since Hamas terrorists poured into Israel, killing 1,400 people and kidnapping 200 others.

Israel said Tuesday it had launched 400 airstrikes in the day, killing Hamas commanders, hitting militants as they prepared to fire rockets into Israel and striking command centers and a Hamas tunnel shaft.

Israel reported 320 strikes the day before.
