Goat Guts Found in Baggage at Chicago Airport by Customs Officials

Fifteen pounds of the eviscerated animal were found in a couple's baggage

Eviscerated Goat Discovered at Chicago International Airport US CBP

Customs agents were shocked to find an eviscerated goat inside baggage they searched at Chicago O’Hare International.

Agriculture specialists stopped two passengers who were arriving from the Congo last week, according to a news release from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

They found one pound of unknown meat, 2 pounds of garden eggs, and 15 pounds of raw goat viscera, including the trachea, heart, lungs, liver, kidneys and entire digestive system, Customs said.

The specialists seized and destroyed the items, which are prohibited to prevent livestock diseases and plant pests in the United States.

“There are real dangers these items can have if they are introduced in the U.S. economy,” said LaFonda Sutton-Burke, CBP director, Field Operations-Chicago Field Office.

Customs agents prevent a large number of banned items from coming into the U.S. including fruits, vegetables, plants and other items.

But they said an eviscerated goat is certainly outside of the usual items they stop.

Customs agents in Minneapolis had their own unusual find last week. They seized a small box containing giraffe poop at Saint Paul International.
