The Georgia State Capitol building has reopened after a bomb hoax on Wednesday morning, according to Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter Greg Bluestein.

"A hoax email was sent to an employee this morning about a bomb threat at the Capitol," Georgia's Department of Public Safety Information Office told Bluestein in an email, which he screenshotted and posed to X, formerly known as Twitter. "A search was conducted, and an all-clear was given."

The threat was initially reported on social media by Gabriel Sterling, Georgia's Secretary of State.

The capitol building was closed during the search, but has since be reopened given the all-clear notice.

It is unclear who sent the threat and to who the threat was sent to at the time of reporting.
