Victims at Fort Stewart Army Base Identified as Soldier, Her Husband and Their Two Kids
The family was discovered by Fort Stewart Military Police after the soldier’s unit requested a welfare check
Military officials confirmed a female soldier, her husband and their two kids are the subjects of a death investigation after initial reports said "multiple people" were found deceased inside their on-base home Wednesday.
The family of four — whose identities are being withheld pending next of kin notification — were discovered by Fort Stewart Military Police in Georgia after the soldier’s unit requested a welfare check, according to officials.
They were unresponsive when police arrived.
The incident is believed to be isolated and there is no threat to the community, said officials.
The family's deaths come less than a year after Sgt. Nathan M. Hillman was allegedly shot to death by a fellow soldier at Fort Stewart.
The investigation remains ongoing.
