Florida Woman Set Tinder Date on Fire After Yelling ‘You Guys Are Out To Get Me!’: Police
She is facing three felony charges, including arson and attempted murder
A woman from Florida was booked into jail on Monday for allegedly setting her Tinder date on fire after yelling "You guys are out to get me!" according to police.
Destiny Lenai Johnson, 25, is facing three felony charges, including arson and attempted murder, Local 10 reported.
The victim and Johnson, who used the alias "Tiny," met on Tinder, according to an arrest report obtained by the station. On Nov. 25, Johnson messaged the man at around 5 a.m. and asked him to come to the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Kendall East in Miami.
When the man arrived, Johnson opened his car door and said she needed money to fix her car, the report said. Johnson was holding a one-gallon water jug containing a yellowish liquid.
The victim said he “did not appreciate” Johnson telling him to come to the hotel just to ask for money. He offered her the $60 he had on him to “help her out anyway.”
Johnson became angry and yelled “You guys are out to get me!” police said. She then poured the liquid inside the jug on the passenger’s seat of his car. The substance, which smelled like gasoline, also got on the man as he tried to push the jug out of the car, police said.
She allegedly pulled out a lighter and set fire to the car, the man's right arm, and herself.

“The victim stated that he immediately jumped out of the driver door of his vehicle and began rolling on the asphalt to extinguish the flames on his body, while his vehicle was soon fully engulfed in flames,” police said in the report obtained by the TV station. “The victim then stated that he produced a firearm from his right waistband and pointed it at (Johnson), fearing that she would make further attempts to light him on fire.”
Johnson then fled the scene, police said. The man put his firearm away and asked the staff at the hotel’s front desk to call the police.
Officers received a call about a “naked Black female with burns (who) was found (nearby) stating that she blew up a vehicle” less than three hours later.
Johnson was taken to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital for treatment. She allegedly claimed she was “being sex trafficked.”
She is being held without bond at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
