Florida Man Tried to Kill His Ex After Murdering Estranged Wife in Storage Unit, Police Say
Shakeira Rucker's body was discovered Saturday at a storage unit in Apopka, Florida, after a worker reported a 'smell emanating' from it
A Florida man accused of murdering his estranged wife inside his storage unit is suspected of trying to kill his ex-lover hours after the alleged slaying.
Cory Hill, 51, has been charged with first-degree murder with a firearm in connection with the death of Shakeira Rucker, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
It’s unclear if he entered a plea to the charge or retained an attorney to comment on his behalf.
Rucker, a 37-year-old mom of four, was last seen by family members on Nov. 11.
Her body was discovered Saturday at a storage unit owned by Hill in Apopka, Florida, after a worker reported a “smell emanating” from it, Sheriff John Mina said at a weekend press conference. She appeared to suffer from multiple gunshot wounds.
“We were all hoping for a different outcome,” Mina said.
Hill was already being held on four counts of attempted murder after he allegedly tried to shoot his ex-lover and her family the same day he is suspected of killing Rucker. During the search for Rucker, Hill remained law enforcement’s “primary suspect,” according to authorities.

Rucker and Hill were captured on the storage facility’s surveillance cameras arriving together the morning of Nov. 12, according to an arrest affidavit, WOFL-TV reported. He was later seen leaving alone, per the report.
Three hours later, Hill arrived at ex Angel Milligan’s home and allegedly tried “to kill her” by firing off several rounds into the residence, per the affidavit.
At the time of the alleged shooting, Milligan was at home with her cousin and two children, according to USA TODAY.
Speaking with WOFL, Milligan said she was unaware Hill was married during their four-month romance earlier this year.
"I want to ask him, ‘Why? Why me? Why her?’" Milligan said, according to the station. "It's heartbreaking, not an easy feeling."
Rucker leaves behind four children — ages 7, 9, 16, and 18, according to a GoFundMe campaign organized on their behalf.
It’s unclear if Hill was their father.
He previously served 20 years for second-degree murder, according to court records, WESH-TV reported.
