A Florida city honored a World War II Marine veteran on his 104th birthday with a car parade.

Oviedo residents, including neighbors, veterans, first responders and community leaders, participated in the parade on Saturday, Click Orlando reported.

John Henry Chaney Sr. served with the 8th Ammunition Co. from 1943 to 1945. He fought in the Battle of Iwo Jima.

“Anybody that is living and wants to live will thank The Lord for living,” Chaney said. “And I’m gonna thank him, and I’m gonna thank him, and I don’t know how many years I live, but I will live however many years that He wants me to live.”

Chaney told Spectrum News 13 that he also battled cancer, but he "never had a pain."

The parade featured members of the Oviedo Police Department, Oviedo Fire Department, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office and the American Legion. Oviedo Mayor Megan Sladek and Seminole County Commissioner Bob Dallari celebrated Chaney as well.

Chaney has 15 children. Several family members joined him for the parade.
