Dog Accidentally Finds Owner’s Missing Wedding Diamond Months After Losing It
The dog's owner described him as 'a genius'
A Great Dane in Idaho played the ultimate game of fetch when he retrieved a missing diamond from his owner’s wedding ring – months after she had lost it.
The diamond on Katrina Lemmon’s wedding ring fell out of its setting, shortly before the 20th anniversary of her marriage to her husband Eric Baker, according to Boise Dev.
Her husband reassured her that it was fine but Lemmon was still upset. She searched every corner of her house, looking for the missing stone, but had no luck.
Then her dog, Txiki (pronounced Cheeky) saved the day.
“I was cleaning out this closet, and my Txiki baby was not leaving me alone,” Lemmon told Boise Dev.
“I was frustrated with him and was like, “Txiki!” I rarely get mad at him – so I was like — ‘oh I’m sorry, good baby.’”
To apologize to her giant friend – who is brown with black spots – Lemmon grabbed the dog’s jowls and found an incredible surprise.

“[The diamond] was on his lip,” Lemmon told Boise Dev. “He has these big fat jowls that are so sweet. I grabbed his face, and I put my left hand on one side of his face and my other hand on the other side – and it was on his lip, and it rolled off my thumb and onto the floor.”
Great Danes are highly intelligent dogs, who require a responsibility to be happy, according to the American Kennel Club. Txiki is no exception to this rule, according to his owner.
“He was extremely persistent and didn’t want to leave the closet. I think he knew it was there,” Lemmon told Boise Dev.
“He’s a genius,” she added. “He didn’t grab anything else in there. He didn’t have any shoes in his mouth — just that one thing on his lip.”
