A decapitated head was discovered Wednesday in Ohio close to a location where a woman’s body was found just two months ago, officials said.

Hamilton County Coroner Dr. Lakshmi Kode Sammarco said the decapitated head was found about a block away from where an unknown woman’s torso was discovered Nov. 5 in the 1600 block of Baltimore Avenue in North Fairmount.

Authorities are working to confirm whether the body parts are from the same victim, Fox 19 reported.

The female torso was found with no fingerprints or dental records, nor any scars, tattoos or birthmarks, which made identification even more difficult, Cincinnati Police Department Criminal Investigations Sections Commander Capt. Steve Saunders said at the time.

“We don’t really know exactly what happened and we won’t know that story until we find the person or persons that are responsible for this and that’s our main goal,” Saunders said.

The FBI Evidence Response Team and the Cincinnati Homicide Unit searched the area when Wednesday’s discovery was made, according to WXIX.

“Obviously, this is a very disturbing scene — for the neighbors in this area, for the Cincinnati community, for anybody. I know I’ve been in law enforcement for 33 years and I have not seen anything of this nature,” Saunders said.

Officials are seeking information on a dismembered body found in Ohio.

An early Hamilton County Coroner’s Office indicates the torso is probably from a female in her late 20s or early 30s, and perhaps 5-foot-1 inches tall.

“We’re doing everything we can scientifically, forensically, certainly, looking through DNA genealogy to try and determine who this person is,” Saunders said last month. “We’re confident we’re going to find out and determine who this person is.”

Cincinnati police are continuing to work with local, state and federal agents to determine who the victim is by checking missing persons reports to see if there is a local connection.

“I think once we do determine [who the victim is], that will open this investigation wide open so we’re trying to do that as best we can [...] that’s why we’re out here today,” Saunders said.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Cincinnati police at 513-352-3542, Crime Stoppers at 513-352-3040 or the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office at 513-946-8700.

The investigation is ongoing, authorities stated.
