Death and Kidnapping Tolls Per Nation for Hamas Massacre in Israel
Governments around the world continued to come to grips with the number of their citizens killed or missing in Hamas’ stunning weekend attack on Israel.
More than two dozen countries have reported dead or missing citizens in the wake of the Hamas massacre, which has left 1,000 people dead in Israel and 830 killed in ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza.
The dead include students, farm workers, and ravers at an electronic music festival held in the southern Israeli desert.
Here is the confirmed toll as of Tuesday morning, based on government and press reports:
Thailand: 18 dead, 11 hostages. Deputy Foreign Minister Jakkapong Sangmanee said 5,000 Thai nationals had been evacuated from high-risk areas inside Israel, and that more than 3,000 has requested evacuation.
US: 11 dead, others missing. President Joe Biden said Monday that at least 11 US citizens had been killed and that “we believe it is likely that American citizens may be among those being held by Hamas.
Nepal: 10 dead. Ten Nepalis were slain at Kibbutz Alumim near the Gaza border. Kibbutz Alumim was hosting 17 Nepali students at the time of the attack, AFP reported.
Argentina: 7 dead, 15 missing. Argentina's foreign ministry on Monday confirmed that seven of the country's nationals were killed and 15 others were missing.

France: 4 dead, 13 missing. France had previously announced the deaths of two French nationals. Among the new victims was a “person rather young,” French lawmaker Meyer Habib said Tuesday. Those missing—including a 12-year-old boy—have likely been killed or kidnapped, he added.
Ukraine: 2 dead. Two Ukrainian women, longtime residents of Israel, were killed, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Sunday.
Russia: 1 dead, 4 missing. "We are in touch with the Palestinians," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Tuesday. "Indeed, there was some information that individuals with Russian citizenship are purportedly among the hostages."
UK: 2 dead, 8 missing. A 20-year-old British man serving in the Israeli army was killed in combat, and a 26-year-old working as a security at the Supernova music festival was among the 260 people massacred there.
Canada: 1 dead, 3 missing. Canadian Alexandre Look was reported killed at the music festival.
Cambodia: 1 dead. Prime Minister Hun Manet said one Cambodian student was killed.
Germany: Many hostages. The German foreign ministry said it believes several dual German-Israeli nationals had been abducted by Hamas. The hostages likely include Shani Louk, 22, who was seen half-naked, lying face down in the back of a pick-up truck in Gaza, surrounded by armed men.
Philippines: 5 missing. The Philippine ambassador to Israel said five citizens were unaccounted for.
Austria: 3 missing.
Brazil: 3 missing.
Mexico: 2 hostages. Foreign Minister Alicia Barcena said on social media that two Mexicans, a man and a woman, had been abducted.
Chile: 2 missing. Chile’s foreign ministry said Monday that a Chilean couple living on a kibbutz not far from Gaza were missing.
Italy: 2 missing. "They have not been located and are not answering calls," Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said.
Paraguay: 2 missing.
Peru: 2 missing.
Sri Lanka: 2 missing.
Tanzania: 2 missing.
Colombia: 2 missing. Two Colombians who attended the Supernova festival are missing, officials said.
Panama: 1 missing. Panama's government said one of its nationals, Daryelis Denises Saez Batista, was missing.
Ireland: 1 missing. An Irish-Israeli woman has been confirmed missing by the Irish government.
