Daring Cat Rescued From Atop Utility Pole: Photos
Police recruited an electric company to rescue the cat with a bucket truck
One fearless feline had to be rescued by an electric company after it became stranded on top of a telephone pole in Pennsylvania.
Nearby neighbors called the Columbia Borough Police Department just after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, after they noticed the cat several feet in the air, expressing concerns for its safety.
According to a press release, the department recruited PPL Electric Utilities to help rescue the cat. The PPL crew turned off the power to the utility lines before rescuing the cat with a bucket truck.
Police performed traffic control while the crew saved the cat, and power was restored to neighbors after about 10 minutes.
“This is the second time in almost a week that PPL was called out in town for incidents that could have become deadly for something or someone. Please remember to be safe around all utilities,” the police department wrote on Facebook.
The gray and white cat was taken to the Columbia Animal Shelter without injury, and it will be cared for there until its owner can be identified.
