A father in Washington was arrested for manslaughter after his 2-year-old daughter died from overdosing on fentanyl.

On Sunday, September 16, Pierce County deputies and paramedics responded to a 911 call from a man saying his daughter was deceased at their home in Spanaway.

According to the man, he had fallen asleep with his daughter and when he woke up at 4:20 a.m., she was not breathing.

The medical examiner's office reported that there was 'a significant amount' of fentanyl in the girl's system.

Detectives returned to the residence with a search warrant to re-interview the father, who was then arrested for first-degree manslaughter.
