Crumbl and Dirty Dough Reach Settlement in Utah’s ‘Cookie Wars’

Could the “Utah Cookie Wars” be resolved?
It’s been a year since the beginning of a series of lawsuits alleging the theft of proprietary information among Utah cookie companies, including Crumbl and Dirty Dough, the Salt Lake Tribune reported.
Crumbl and Dirty Dough agreed to a settlement, the newspaper reported. Crumbl settled a lawsuit it had filed against Crave Cookies after Crumbl claimed trademark infringement.
Crumbl on Monday called the confidential settlement with Dirty Dough “amicable.”
Both Crumbl and Dirty Dough’s CEOs posted about the lawsuits on social media. Dirty Dough took out a billboard exclaiming, “Cookies so good, we’re being sued!”
A judge in August denied Crumbl’s request for an injunction against competitor Dirty Dough, but the judge said in his ruling that Crumble “probably has shown a likelihood of success” in proving that Dirty Dough had swiped “trade secrets,” according to the Tribune.

“Crumbl and Dirty Dough are pleased that they have been able to work together to resolve this dispute, and each remains dedicated to serving its customers with excellence. Crumbl and Dirty Dough wish each other success in their future endeavors,” Crumbl said in a statement.
Dirty Dough founder Bennett Maxwell called the legal case “a wild and interesting ride.”
“We’re eager to shift our full attention to vital business initiatives — particularly raising capital and energizing our new mobile franchise offerings,” he said. “We are glad to be coming to a successful resolution that allows us to close this chapter and move forward with our vision.”
