Jewish synagogues and police in Connecticut were grappling with bomb threats Friday as Hamas called for a “Day of Rage," officials reported.

The Ridgefield Police Department received a call about a bomb threat at Congregation Shir Shalom mid-morning in the town located about an hour north of New York City, officials said in a statement.

Police evacuated the building, and nearby Stamford police responded to the scene with a bomb detection K-9 unit. The dog and police officers searched the building, but did not locate any explosive device.

No one was injured as a result of the threat.

“It is our understanding that multiple other places of worship, throughout the State of Connecticut received similar threats today,” the Ridgefield Police Department reported.

“We ask that everyone continues to be vigilant and if you see something suspicious, please contact us immediately,” the police warned.

The bomb threats come less than a week after Hamas terrorists launched a surprise attack on Israel, killing hundreds and wounding thousands more.

Israel has retaliated against Hamas by bombing buildings in Gaza. As a result, a Hamas leader called for supporters to participate in a “Day of Rage.”

Tens of thousands of Muslims demonstrated Friday across the Middle East according to previous reporting from The Messenger. Many held protests against Israel in Europe and America as well.

All active New York City Police officers were ordered to report for duty on Friday in anticipation of the “Day of Rage.”

Cities elsewhere in the country also beefed up their security as well, though there were no known, credible threats against specific targets or demonstrations as of late afternoon Friday.
