A Chicago man was arrested in connection to a pregnant woman's slaying on Monday, after he was caught by surveillance footage picking the victim up shortly before her death.

Detectives believe that Juan Vega-Montoya, 37, strangled Meghan Lewis, 39, to death during a November 26 argument, according to local news outlet WLS.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office alleged that after strangling Lewis, Vega-Montoya drove her body back to his home and left her corpse in the car for two days.

On November 28, he then allegedly dumped Lewis’ remains on the side of the road, WLS reported.

Vega-Montoya was arrested during a traffic stop and charged with concealing a homicidal death. He is also expected to be charged with murder.

Multiple agencies, in several counties, reportedly worked to apprehend Vega-Montoya.

“It is simply unconscionable to kill someone then dump their body on the side of a roadway, in a humiliating fashion,” said Lake County Sheriff John D. Idleburg, according to WLS.

“I am grateful for all of the agencies who assisted and worked to hold Megan's killer accountable.”
