Where Was Sena Last Seen?
Charlotte was last seen around 6:15 p.m. on Saturday on Loop A at Moreau Lake State Park in Gansevoort, New York.
The state park is North of Albany and near Saratoga Springs. The area attracts hikers and other outdoor enthusiasts and campers, with a variety of camping areas available at the lakeside.
Amber Alert
New York State Police issued an Amber Alert after determining Charlotte was missing under circumstances that led them to believe she was in imminent danger of serious harm and/or death.
Charlotte had been riding a bike loop in the park with two friends but decided to do one more lap on her own.
Family members found her bike about 30 minutes after she was last seen.
Her parents knew immediately something was up, Governor Kathy Hochul said at a Sunday news conference.
"They called her name. People started searching, people from other campgrounds joined," Hochul said.
Charlotte's mother, Trisha, called 911 at 6:47 p.m.
"The scene was chaotic," Hochul said.
The state police were on site by 7 p.m.
The girl’s mother told the Times Union that Charlotte is "a good kid" and is "trusting."
"I just want my daughter back," Trish Sena told the newspaper.
The family is from Gansevoort, New York. They are asking for anyone with information to come forward.
“No tip is insignificant,” Jené Sena, Charlotte’s aunt, told WCBS-TV. “She is just a sweet, adorable girl.”
Charlotte is in the fourth grade and was recently elected to be a class officer for the student council at her school.
The Search
Gov. Kathy Hocul said that more than 100 people are involved in the search for Charlotte this week.
She met with Charlotte's parents, David and Trisha, on Sunday and said they were “obviously distraught.”
New York Area Where Charlotte Vanished
Charlotte was camping with her family in Moreau Lake State Park. It is a 6,250-acre state park in Saratoga County. The park features over 20 miles of hiking trails.
The state police had a bloodhound, dive teams and drones on-site to help in the search. They said they thought Charlotte was abducted after an exhaustive search of the park turned up no sign of her.
A command post has been established at the park and the Schenectady Fire Office was assisting with the search.
Sena is the niece of one of the members of the Schenectady Fire Department.
“Hearts are broken here in New York today,” Hochul said.
The New York State Police planned an update on the search on Monday.
