Charlotte Sena Abduction Suspect Identified; Was Hiding 9-Year-Old Inside Camper Cabinet: Governor
Craig Nelson Ross Jr, 47, was found and arrested after investigators identified fingerprints on a ransom note he allegedly left at 9-year-old Charlotte Sena's parents' house
Craig Nelson Ross Jr. was arrested Monday in connection with the alleged kidnapping of 9-year-old Charlotte Sena, who went missing while riding her bike in a New York state park over the weekend.
Ross, 47, allegedly left a note at Sena's parents' house around 4:20 a.m. Monday, asking for a ransom in exchange for Sena, Gov. Kathy Hochul said during a Monday night press conference. Investigators seized the note soon after and analyzed it for fingerprints and other clues to Ross' identity.
Initial reporting also identified Ross as having a prior conviction for sexual abuse, but authorities confirmed he is not a registered sex offender.
Police in New York found Sena around 6:30 p.m. Monday evening after a two-day search. She was last seen around 6:15 p.m. Saturday at Moreau Lake State Park in Gansevoort, Hochul said.
Investigators determined Ross' identity by analyzing alleged fingerprints left on the alleged ransom note and connecting the prints to an arrest record for a DWI from 1999, according to Hochul.

Investigators tracked Ross to a trailer where he lived with his mother. Sena was allegedly found hidden in a cabinet in the trailer and Ross was arrested after some resistance, Hochul said. According to authorities, he suffered some minor injuries during the arrest.
Ross was still being questioned at 11 p.m. ET, but has yet to be charged, Hochul said. It also has not been determined if Ross and the family have any relationship.
"Charlotte is going home. That is the story," Hochul said.
