Videos posted on social media showed the moment family and friends of 9-year-old Charlotte Sena found out the girl was found alive after being missing for 48 hours.

The group applauded and cheered and then thanked the media for covering the case.

Charlotte vanished over the weekend while at Lake Moreau State Park in upstate New York, after going for a bike ride on her own. An Amber Alert saying she was likely in danger was issued, prompting a massive search for the young girl. About 400 people took part in the hunt for Charlotte, including forest rangers, police officers and firefighters.

Investigators were able to identify a fingerprint from a ransom note allegedly left by Craig Nelson Ross Jr., 46, at the family’s home, eventually leading them to him and Charlotte, who was found alive and well.

Police found Ross in a camper at a property owned by his mother at about 6:30 p.m.

They said Charlotte was being hidden in a cabinet in the camper.

Charlotte, a fourth grader from nearby Greenfield, had been riding her bike around a campsite loop in Lake Moreau State park with other children on Saturday afternoon when she decided to ride around one more time by herself.

Her parents found her bike around a half hour later and called 911.

That started the chain of events that ended with her eventual rescue.
