A Florida driver swerved off a road at high speeds, nearly hitting a child before crashing into a canal, and it was caught all on a neighbor’s home security camera.

Video of the incident shows a car driving down NW 21st Place in Cape Coral when it veers off the road and into a yard. The vehicle hits a bump and soars straight into the canal.

The video shows a child standing just feet away from where the car flew into the canal. After the car lands in the water, the child runs back toward the nearest home.

Lorraine Holder, who lives right along the canal, told NBC 2, "He was standing right on the edge of the canal and I can only imagine how he’s feeling." She added, "I was just nervous, I was scared because after seeing the car go completely airborne, I was like okay now this is something serious."

In the video, captured on Holder’s security system, the child came back with an adult, and other people came from across the street to view the accident. The driver appears stuck in the car for a few minutes, trapped behind the airbag. A bystander then jumps into the canal and swims over to help the driver escape the sinking vehicle.

By the time the driver gets out of the canal, their vehicle is almost completely submerged in the water. The Cape Coral Police Department said that no injuries were reported.
