California Gov. Gavin Newsom will launch an investigation into flights of migrants that were flown to Sacramento.

In an interview with NBC, Newsom says an investigation will look into the potential of criminality with flights organized by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' administration.

Newsom previously referred to them as kidnappings. He tweeted at DeSantis on Monday, calling him a "small, pathetic man."

"This isn't Martha's Vineyard," Newsom said in his tweet, referencing when DeSantis paid to have immigrants transported to Massachusetts in 2022.

Newsom's tweet ended with "Kidnapping charges?" and included the section of California criminal law that covers the crime.

When asked about the comment, Newsom responded, "I think I'm being generous with 'small and pathetic'" in the NBC interview.

Newsom announced a proposal to get a Constitutional Amendment on gun control passed by the states in a portion of the interview that aired on "Today" Thursday morning.

A Texas district attorney is reviewing a recommendation to pursue criminal charges against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ administration for its role in flying Venezuelan migrants from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard last year.
