California Construction Worker in Critical Condition With Brain Injuries After ‘Random and Vicious’ Attack on Job Site
Carlos Ayala was the victim identified by his daughter in a GoFundMe
A California construction worker is in critical condition after he was randomly attacked while working on a job site in Garden Grove.
According to SoCal station KTLA-TV, police said they are looking for multiple suspects in connection with the June 20 attack.
According to authorities, construction workers were laying asphalt around 12:40 a.m., in a commercial parking lot, when a confrontation ensued between the workers and people leaving a business.
One of the workers was severely assaulted by an unknown male. The attack caused the victim to hit his head and suffer several brain injuries and skull fractures, the station reports.
According to a GoFundMe launched to assist with medical bills, Sarah Ayala identified one of the victims as her father, Carlos, the sole provider for her family. So far, the page has raised a little more than $10,000.
Ayala described her father as a “hardworking man who was doing his job."

"He did no wrong. This random and vicious attack has left my father and his coworkers traumatized,” reads the fundraiser description.
A “group of people rushed out of Say Karaoke and assaulted both my dad and his coworkers, after they asked the group of men not to step on the asphalt they had just worked on,” Ayala claims.
“While my father and his coworkers were both beaten, unfortunately, my dad suffered the most injuries. He was admitted to the hospital as a John Doe with brain injuries, skull fractures, severe brain swelling and brain bleeding. He was found unconscious and couldn't speak or walk due to the severity of his injuries.”
No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
