Mondelēz Global LLC announced a voluntary recall this week for two varieties of belVita breakfast sandwiches.

The recall was announced on Monday after the parent company conducted an internal manufacturing inspection and found the possible presence of peanut protein residue on the production line, the company said in a statement.

The belVita Breakfast Sandwich varieties being recalled — Cinnamon Brown Sugar with Vanilla Creme and Dark Chocolate Creme — don't list peanuts as an ingredient and therefore pose a risk for "serious or life-threatening allergic reactions," the company said.

According to the company, there have been three unconfirmed reports of allergic reactions as of Monday.

Mondelēz Global advises customers with peanut allergies should not eat the biscuits specified in their posted spreadsheet by sell-by date, retail UPC and package size.

Consumers looking for more information on the recall can contact Mondelēz Global at 855-535-5948, 24 hours a day. Consumer Relations specialists are available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST, the company says.
