A woman in Alabama who stabbed her husband a year ago has been arrested and charged with his stabbing death in a separate incident last week.

Both incidents happened at the same hotel in Moulton, Alabama, and each time he was stabbed in the chest.

Police say Ashley Latrice Wright, 25, was arrested in Clarksdale, Miss., and charged with felony murder in the stabbing death of Carl Dewayne Jones, 41.

The Moulton Police Department in Alabama said it received a call Nov. 30 around 8:30 p.m. concerning a possible dead person at the Relax Inn Hotel, according to Al.com.

Police arrived and found Jones dead with a puncture wound to his chest, according to an arrest report. MPD tagged Wright as the suspect after an investigation and issued a warrant for her arrest. She was detained by police in Clarksdale after a traffic stop.

Wright was extradited back to Alabama on Monday and is being held in the Lawrence County Jail with no bond set.

Ironically, she was arrested a year earlier on Dec. 1, 2022 — for stabbing her husband in the chest, also at the Relax Inn. Jones told police after the incident last year the couple had been drinking when they had an argument over family issues.

He said his wife physically attacked him before grabbing a steak knife and stabbing him. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

She fled the hotel and was later spotted by a firefighter on a city street, and she was eventually arrested and charged with second-degree assault. Her case was waived by a grand jury earlier this year.

Wright’s attorney filed a motion Wednesday asking a court to order a mental evaluation. No court date has been set in Wright’s case.
