An airline passenger from Ohio has been charged with attempted murder of a law enforcement officer after allegedly putting a Florida cop in a chokehold during a disturbance Tuesday at Orlando International Airport.

Online records confirm Edward Hariston, 41, has also been charged with resisting arrest with violence, battery on a law enforcement officer, and disorderly conduct.

On Tuesday, police were summoned to the Spirit Airlines ticket counter at Orlando International Airport about an aggressive group of people threatening Spirit staffers.

Passengers were allegedly yelling at the airline's staff, with some even going behind the ticket counter, reports FOX 35, citing the arrest affidavit.

When police arrived at the scene, they allegedly spotted Hariston reaching behind the ticket counter, and grabbing at a computer keyboard.

According to FOX 35, a police officer tried to stop Hariston, and the two started fighting.

The officer allegedly grabbed Hariston, who started pushing the cop backwards. They both fell to the ground. According to an arrest report from the office: "Hariston put one of his arms around my neck in a chokehold and began to squeeze, restricting my airway, making it unable for me to breathe."

"I began to get dizzy and immediately spotty, as my airflow was restricted, and I was beginning to lose consciousness," the officer wrote.

The officer managed to break free from Hariston, who was arrested by other officers at the scene.

Hariston is still in police custody, but bail information was unavailable.

It was unclear Friday if Hariston had entered pleas to the charges he faces. Information of his attorney, if he has one, was unavailable.
