Devarjaye Daniel, 11, who goes by DJ, has been sworn in as an honorary police officer at 792 departments across the country. He was even sworn in as a Federal Bureau of Investigation special agent.
DJ was diagnosed with metastatic anaplastic ependymoma brain and spine cancer when he was younger and has undergone at least 13 surgeries, according to a Facebook page dedicated to following his progress. The rare cancer is incurable, according to a GoFundMe created for DJ’s family.
DJ was most recently sworn in at five Minnesota police departments, CBS News reported. DJ, his dad, and his brothers visited Minnesota last month.
The boy got the royal treatment at the departments, toured the agencies, observed how officers trained, and checked out their SWAT, drone, and K9 teams, the outlet reported. He also went on a fishing trip with officers and stayed at the Mall of America, the Edina Police Department said.
"We had a gauntlet of officers coming in on the day of the swearing-in," Eden Prairie Patrol Officer Alli Biermaier told CBS News. "[DJ] took the time to walk up and shake every single officer's hands, just say 'thank you' or make a joke. It was incredible, I think, for everyone involved."

Biermaier orchestrated DJ’s trip to Minnesota after she saw he was on a mission to be sworn in at hundreds of departments, the outlet reported.
The Hendersonville Police Department in Tennessee described the boy as having “an infectious personality.” DJ was sworn in at a dozen Tennessee law enforcement agencies in November 2022.
