YouTuber Airrack Sets a Pizza-Themed World Record Live on ‘Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’

The history-making stunt comes a year after Airrack set the record for making the world's largest pizza pie

Amid its star-studded lineup of performers, this year's edition of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin' Eve also shone a spotlight on a YouTube star's endeavor to set a pizza-related world record.

YouTuber Airrack spent the day and much of the evening attempting to set the Guinness World Record for the most pizza establishments visited within 24 hours. The content creator, who already holds the record for creating the world’s largest pizza, took to the streets of New York City with a camera crew and Guinness World Record adjudicator in tow for his latest challenge on the last day of the year.

Airrack, whose real name is Eric Decker, has completed various food-oriented ventures and teamed up with Pizza Hut to create the gargantuan 132-foot pie last January. The video of that process raked in more than 21 million views on YouTube.

Nearly a year later, he hit the Big Apple beginning at midnight, running and riding the subway from one pizza shop to the next. Toward the end of the day, he had recorded more than 42,000 steps and had visited more than 56 pizza restaurants.

By the time he met up with the evening's hosts Ryan Seacrest and Rita Ora live on air, Decker had surpassed the number to beat — 69 shops — and set a new record with 102 pizza establishments visited.

After thanking his fans, Decker took the opportunity to call out Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, who notoriously feuded with a pizza shop owner earlier this year.

"You have zero pizza records; I have two, going on three," Decker said. "Let's do something big, let's bring our audiences together."
