God, it's brutal out here.

It looks like Olivia Rodrigo fans aren't happy with K-pop star YENA following the release of her new song, "Hate Rodrigo."

Fans of the "driver's license" singer were initially wary of the title when it was first announced, concerned over the use of the word "hate" alongside the 20-year-old pop star's last name.

The song and accompanying music video dropped June 27 and nodded to Rodrigo's massively successful SOUR album with visual homages to the vinyl record, as well as her songs "deja vu," "jealousy, jealousy" and "good 4 u." It even featured images of Rodrigo all over YENA's bedroom walls.

The controversy grew when the music video was suddenly removed from YouTube alongside the song's teasers, seemingly made private by YENA's channel. Even the artist's TikTok challenges that used the hashtag #HateRodrigo seemingly disappeared, with #HateXX appearing in their place.

Following the takedowns, Korean news publications began reporting that they were removed because of "copyright issues" allegedly filed by Rodrigo's team, though fans continue to share the video across social media.

The Messenger has reached out to Rodrigo's representatives for comment.

The controversial track appeared on YENA's new HATEXX EP released June 27. Despite the title, the singer says she hoped to express her complicated feelings of love and jealousy — and not hatred. "It's a song that expresses the very cute jealousy I feel for my role model, the person who I admire and respect," YENA reportedly explained at a showcase event in Seoul, per All K Pop.

"'Hate Rodrigo' is a song that cutely and honestly expresses the feelings towards a person who is the subject of envy and sometimes jealousy," she continued. "I wanted to use ironic expressions to express my desires and affections for that person through sincere lyrics and performances."

Meanwhile, Rodrigo is gearing up for the release of her sophomore album GUTS on September 8. She'll release the record's first single "vampire" on June 30 at 12 a.m. EST.
