Tom Holland Says the Best ‘Spider-Man’ Movie Is One He Isn’t In

The actor, who has starred as Peter Parker since 2016, said his favorite film in the franchise doesn't even involve him.

Tom Holland has brought the Spider-Man meme to life.

The actor, who has played the beloved superhero since 2016, pointed to another Spidey movie as being the best of the bunch.

"I think the first Spider-Verse movie is the best Spider-Man movie that's ever been made," Holland told The Associated Press at the premiere of his new Apple TV+ series The Crowded Room. "I'm so proud of everyone involved."

Holland is, of course, referencing 2018's computer-animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse–which told the story of Miles Morales and introduced a host of various Spidey varietals, including Spider-Woman, Spider-Ham and Spider-Man Noir.

The film's sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, was released on Friday.

"[Spider-Man producer] Amy Pascal is like my mom. I was supposed to go with her [to the premiere] as her date, I couldn’t go because I’m here working," Holland continued. "But I’m incredibly proud of them, I’m excited for the second one. I’m sure it will live up to every expectation, and I can’t wait to see it.”

Holland first appeared as Spider-Man in 2016's Captain America: Civil War, before starring in 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming, 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home and 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home.

He also played the webbed wonder in 2018's Avengers: Infinity War and 2019's Avengers: Endgame

As for Holland's future with the franchise, a fourth Spider-Man movie starring the actor has been confirmed, however plans are currently on hold due to the writers' strike.

"I can say that we have been having meetings," Holland told Variety. "We've put the meetings on pause in solidarity with the writers."
