Tom Hardy Announces ‘Venom 3’ Is Back in Production: ‘The Last Dance’
Star and producer Tom Hardy is teasing the third and possible final 'Venom' film
We're that much closer to the return of Eddie Brock and his buddy Venom.
Two weeks after the conclusion of the SAG-AFTRA strike, Venom 3 has become one of the first big blockbusters to resume production. Star and producer Tom Hardy made the announcement on Instagram, sharing a picture with writer-director Kelly Marcel and his longtime stunt double Jacob Tomuri.
"The last dance — thankfully we are back to shooting; and I want to take a moment just to thank all the teams thus far on the ride from V1 to here," Hardy wrote, implying this will be his final go-around as the Marvel character.
"All our fantastic cast and crew — good friends and family — we’ve come a long way. It’s been and continues to be a lot of fun this journey. There’s always hard turns to burn when we work but doesn’t feel as hard when you love what you do and when you know you have great material and the support at all sides of a great team."
Hardy then gave a special shoutout to Marcel, who, after writing and producing 2018's Venom and 2021's Venom: Let There Be Carnage, will make her directorial debut with Venom 3.
"I want to mention very briefly how proud of my director, writing partner and dear friend Kelly Marcel I am," he said. "Watching you taking the helm on this one fills me with pride, it is an honor. Trust your gut, your instincts are always spot on. First class — I back you. 100 percent. As always. And I absolutely love working with you and watching you take on bigger challenges every time."
The Venom franchise stars Hardy as investigative journalist Eddie Brock, but Eddie's life is forever changed when he becomes the human host for alien symbiote Venom. The first two installments act as part-superhero film, part-ridiculous and hilarious Odd Couple reboot.
