Tom Cruise Jokes That Next ‘Mission: Impossible’ Installment Will Be ‘A Musical’

'I sing, I dance. I have all these things that I want to apply to my films,' Cruise said at the film's world premiere

Tom Cruise hit the red carpet in Rome Monday for the world premiere Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, and while he had plenty of passionate things to say about the project, it turns out he wasn't immune to injecting a bit of humor as well.

When discussing his inherent fitness for playing such a high-stakes action figure as Ethan Hunt, Cruise (in video captured by Deadline) made a little joke about his well-rounded experience and how it might be put to use in the franchise's future.

"I've been training for many, many, many years," he noted. "I've been driving motorcycles and cars since I was a little kid. I was sky-diving. I fly jets. I fly airplanes of all kinds...helicopters...parachutes..."

In an abrupt shift, he then noted, "I sing, I dance. I have all these things that I want to apply to my films."

The carpet's emcee broke in: "Is that going to be in Part Two?"

"Yeah, it's going to be a musical," Cruise deadpanned. "You heard it here!"

While the actor and producer was more than likely just having a little fun on the carpet, director Christopher McQuarrie did say in a recent interview, "Look, we're still shooting eight [installments], and there's any number of ways that that story could play out."

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One also stars franchise staples Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg, plus Rebecca Ferguson reprising her role as Ilsa Faust and Vanessa Kirby returning as arms dealer White Widow.
