Tiffany Haddish Announces New Tell-All Book Releasing in May 2024

The actor and comedian says 'I Curse You With Joy' is a reminder to find joy in the darkest parts of life, and an examination of the lessons she's learned thus far

Tiffany Haddish is making headlines again with the announcement of her latest book, a collection of essays and stories titled I Curse You With Joy. The book is set to release next year on May 7 with Diversion Books.

"This book is me, highs and lows," she wrote in the press release.

"The good, the bad, the ugly and of course the funny. The wig is off."

Haddish, 44, is best known for her roles in films including Girls Trip, Night School, and Haunted Mansion. In addition to making history as the first Black female comedian to host Saturday Night Live and Shark Week, she became the second Black woman — after Whoopi Goldberg — to receive the 2021 Comedy Album Grammy Award for her stand-up special Black Mitzvah.

The comedian and actor also became a New York Times bestselling author with the release of her 2017 memoir, The Last Black Unicorn, which details her upbringing as a foster kid in South Central Los Angeles and her path to Hollywood fame. According to the description, Haddish's new book will focus on "the legacy of her childhood trauma, the challenges of being a Black woman in the entertainment industry, and her bittersweet reunion with her estranged father after nearly twenty years apart."

The announcement of I Curse You With Joy comes on the heels of Haddish's second DUI arrest in two years. In November this year, she was discovered sleeping behind the wheel with the engine running. No one was harmed. She's since been officially charged with two DUI misdemeanors: driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with .08% blood alcohol content.

"I'm going to get some help so I can learn balance and boundaries," she told Entertainment Tonight about the incident.

"I've been praying to God to send me a new man, a good man. God went ahead and sent me four in a uniform... I was not expecting that at all. Now, I've got a really great lawyer, and we're going to work it out. I've got to get my asking of things to God a little better."
