Sydney Sweeney Says Her Dad and Grandpa “Walked Out” After Watching ‘Euphoria’ For the First Time
The actress, who plays Cassie on the HBO drama, said the popular show hasn't exactly been a huge hit with certain members of her family.
Euphoria has become one of the most polarizing shows on TV–even for those directly involved.
Sydney Sweeney, who plays Cassie on the HBO drama, revealed that her character's sexual escapades have made things a little bit awkward for those closest to her.
"I didn’t prepare my dad at all," she joked in an upcoming interview on Sunday Today. "I mean, how do you bring up a conversation? Also, when I talk to my dad it’s usually not about work. It’s just, ‘Hey, dad,’ and we talk father-daughter conversations."
Still, that didn't prevent Sweeney's dad Steven from giving the show a shot. "He decided he was going to watch it without telling me," the actress said, "with his parents."
Yes, that means her father decided to sit down and watch Euphoria with Sweeney's grandparents, as well.
It went about as well as expected, with The White Lotus alum revealing, "My dad and my grandpa turned it off and walked out."
It wasn't all bad news on the family front, however.

"My grandma is a big supporter of mine," Sweeney told host Willie Geist. "She’s a big fan."
Better yet, Sweeney has actually had a hand in getting her grandma some acting work. "Actually, I bring her all over the world to my different sets," she said, "and make her an extra."
Sweeney also has the support of her mother Lisa, who had first-hand knowledge of what to expect from Cassie's exploits.
"My mom knew," Sweeney explained. "My mom visited me on set quite a few times. So, she knew the story and I talked to her a lot about it."
While Euphoria might not be her dad's cup of tea, Sweeney marveled at how the show has been able to connect with younger audiences.
"It's amazing. It's become part of the culture," she said. "I remember my brother–he was a freshman or sophomore in college–and they were throwing Euphoria-themed parties. He was like, 'I can't escape it.'"
The first two seasons of Euphoria are available to stream on Max. Season three is expected sometime in 2025.
