For the past few days, the writers guild and Hollywood studios have been locked in intense negotiations as both parties try to find a resolution that could end the standoff, which began in May.

"The WGA and AMPTP met for bargaining on Saturday and will meet again on Sunday," the two groups said in a statement after the close of Saturday's talks. It was the fourth consecutive day of negotiations.

The Hollywood studios and streamers, which make up the AMPTP (Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers), gave the WGA a “best and final” offer, according to CNN. According to the report, Warner Bros. Discovery chief David Zaslav, Disney chief Bob Iger, Netflix co-chief Ted Sarandos, and NBCUniversal studio chairman Donna Langley were not in the room by Saturday afternoon, which many took as a signal that the biggest issues had been resolved.

"Thank you for the wonderful show of support on the picket lines today!" the Writers Guild of America said to their members. "It means so much to us as we continue to work toward a deal that writers deserve."

In a new poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, the majority of Americans (55%) sympathize with the actors and writers who have been on strike, while only a small share (3%) support the Hollywood studios.
