Genealogist Claims Stassi Schroeder and Gypsy Rose Blanchard Are 11th Cousins

'Omg I'm unwell,' the former 'Vanderpump Rules' star shared in reaction to professional genealogist Dr. Adina Newman's revelation

It appears as though Stassi Schroeder, a self-proclaimed true crime enthusiast, has an unexpected connection to Gypsy Rose Blanchard.

Just days after Blanchard was released from prison early 8.5 years after persuading her then-boyfriend to kill her abusive mother Clauddine "Dee Dee" Blanchard, a professional genealogist (and Bravo fan) revealed her apparent relation to the former Vanderpump Rules star.

On Monday, Dr. Adina Newman claimed that her research determined that Schroeder and Blanchard are, in fact, 11th cousins.

"Who spent the whole day researching Gypsy Rose Blanchard's family tree? More specifically, I focused on her maternal side. And let me tell you, Cajuns and Acadians basically everywhere!," Dr. Newman wrote on Instagram. "If you know anything about Cajuns and Acadians, they are endogamous, a small founder population and keeping it within the family for generations. Quickly, I started to see some family names from Stassi Schroeder's paternal grandmother's side that go back to Acadia."

"Still digging because Gypsy Rose and Stassi are related distantly in a bazillion different ways (Arseneauxs, Herberts, and Dugases to name a few), but the closest I've found so far is through Antoine Bourg (c.1609-c.1687) and Antoinette Landry (c.1618-c.1693), progenitors of the Bourg line in Acadia," she continued. "Stassi and Gypsy Rose are at minimum 11th cousins, Stassi is 10th cousins once removed with Dee Dee."

Schroeder was quick to react to the revelation, commenting, "Omg I'm unwell."

Plus, that's apparently not the only VPR connection in Blanchard's life. In a separate post, Dr. Newman claimed Katie Maloney is also related to the subject of The Act.

"Let's add to the family tree! If you've been around here for awhile, you might remember my post about how Stassi Schroeder and [Katie Maloney] are related (will add that link to stories) along the Bourgeois line," she wrote. "But in typical Acadian fashion, they are related in other ways as well, including the Bourg line. In fact, Stassi and Katie are more closely related on this line, sharing ancestors Michel Bourg (c.1666-c.1721) and Elizabeth Melanson (c.1673-c.1724); they are 9th cousins once removed. That means Katie is also related to Gypsy Rose Blanchard! Gypsy is 11th cousins once removed with Katie and 11 cousins with Stassi (counted generations wrong in the prior post, but made the correction)."

Blanchard, now 32, was forced to pretend that she was suffering from leukemia, muscular dystrophy and other serious illnesses as she grew up, due to her mom's Munchausen by proxy disorder.

Dee Dee had essentially kept her daughter prisoner and duped doctors into doing unnecessary procedures by telling them that Gypsy's medical records had been lost in Hurricane Katrina.

Gypsy, who pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in 2016, left the Chillicothe Correctional Center on Dec. 28, 2023, after receiving early parole from the Missouri Department of Corrections in September.
