Songwriter and Producer Known for Work With Beck, BTS, Troye Sivan Dies at 41
Per his family, Bram Inscore 'ended his life after a hard fought battle with depression' on Dec. 19
Songwriter and producer Bram Inscore, who led alt-rock pioneer Beck's backing band and penned hits for Troye Sivan and BTS, has died at the age of 41, according to his family.
Per their statement, Inscore "ended his life after a hard fought battle with depression” on Dec. 19 in San Francisco.
"Selfless as a human and generous as a collaborator, he ingeniously served the music but never his own ego," his family stated. "Deep compassion and dry wit were embedded into everything he did, though he never sought praise or approval. He was truly a unique spirit and though his soul has left his body, it will live forever in his music."
Inscore, who studied jazz and classical music at the University of Southern California, released a solo album, B.R.A.M., in 2009 but ultimately found his biggest success producing and songwriting for others. After leaving college to perform as a session musician with such acts as Twin Shadow, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Thurston Moore, he established a longstanding collaboration with Beck and played on the latter's Grammy-winning 2014 release Morning Phase.
He co-wrote more than a dozen tracks with Sivan over his career, including “The Good Side” and Talk Me Down.” Additionally, Inscore was prominent in the K-pop world, having written for some of the genre's biggest acts including BTS ("Louder Than Bombs").
He is survived by his wife, parents and brother.
