Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne Reveal They Still Have Their Suicide Pact in Place

In 2007, the 'Osbournes' matriarch revealed she and her husband would seek out assisted suicide if they were ever diagnosed with a disease like Alzheimer's

Now in their 70s, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne are apparently sticking with an old assisted suicide pact.

On Tuesday's episode of the Osbournes Podcast, the former The Talk co-host said that 16 years after first revealing their plan to use assisted suicide in the event of a terminal illness, the couple's plans are still in place.

"Do you think that we’re gonna suffer?" Sharon asked, to which her son Jack Osbourne replied, "Aren't we already all suffering?"

"Yes, we all are," the Osbournes matriarch answered, "but I don’t want it to actually hurt, as well. Mental suffering is enough pain without physical. So if you've got mental and physical, see ya."

Back in 2007, Sharon revealed in her memoir Survivor: My Story - The Next Chapter that she and Ozzy had decided they would travel to Switzerland to receive medically assisted suicide if they were diagnosed with something like Alzheimer's disease. The pact was made after she and Ozzy dealt with the difficulties of her father, music industry legend Don Arden, dying from Alzheimer's.

"We believe 100 percent in euthanasia so [we] have drawn up plans to go to the assisted suicide flat in Switzerland if we ever have an illness that affects our brain," she said in an interview with the Daily Mirror at the time. "If Ozzy or I ever got Alzheimer's, that's it — we'd be off. We gathered the kids around the kitchen table, told them our wishes and they've all agreed to go with it."

On the podcast, Kelly Osbourne asked her mother, "But what if you could survive?" to which Sharon responded, "Yeah, what if you survived and you can't wipe your own ass, you're pissing everywhere, sh---ing, can't eat?"

Both Sharon and Ozzy have been open about their health conditions over the past few years, with the latter revealing that he struggles with Parkinson’s disease. He recently underwent surgery on his neck and back for an accident he was involved in over 20 years ago.

Meanwhile, Sharon has been upfront about her use of the drug Ozempic for weight loss, and spoke out about losing more weight than she intended.

"I didn't actually want to go this thin. But it just happened," she said in September. "I'll probably put it all on again soon."
