Shakira Celebrates Getting Her Own Statue in Her Colombian Hometown

'It makes me happy to share this with my parents and especially my mother on her birthday,' Shakira said of the monument in Barranquilla

Shakira is celebrating a larger-than-life tribute to her monumental career in her hometown of Barranquilla, Colombia.

The Grammy Award winner shared photos from a statue dedication on Tuesday, where her parents, brothers and Mayor Jaime Pumarejo were present to see the new attraction.

"It makes me happy to share this with my parents and especially my mother on her birthday," Shakira wrote on Instagram, translated from Spanish. "This is too much for my little heart."

The "La Tortura" singer even shared a video of the unveiling set to her track "Hips Don't Lie" with Wyclef Jean.

The honor comes after Spotify marked its inaugural Shakira Day in September, on the 25th anniversary of her fourth studio album Dónde Están los Ladrones?, which boasts more than a billion streams on the platform.

Shakira was also honored with the MTV Video Vanguard Award that month at the VMAs, where she performed a medley.

Back in July, Shakira became the first artist to occupy all Top 3 spots on the Latin Pop Airplay chart in a single week with her songs, "TQG" with Karol G at No. 1 (for the 10th week in a row), "Acróstico" at No. 2 and her recent single "Copa Vacía" with Manuel Turizo at No. 3.
