See Jamie Lynn Spears’ Reaction When Asked About Her Family’s Response to Her ‘DWTS’ Casting
Spears and partner Alan Bersten appeared on 'Good Morning America' Tuesday, when the actress revealed which family member encouraged her to join the show
As Jamie Lynn Spears prepares to enter the ballroom, she has the full support of her 15-year-old daughter, Maddie Briann, back at home.
During an appearance on Good Morning America Tuesday, Jamie Lynn was announced as the latest cast member on the upcoming 32nd season of Dancing With the Stars.
When GMA co-host Lara Spencer asked what her family — including famous sister Britney Spears and parents, Lynne and Jamie Spears — thought about the big news, Jamie Lynn pivoted to her daughter Maddie.
"My 15-year-old actually was very motivated for me to do this, which was so surprising," Jamie Lynn said. "I was thinking my 15-year-old would be like, 'You're going to dance on TV? What are you doing, Mom?' But she was like, 'Mom, you have to do it.'"
Jamie Lynn is the younger sister of Britney, and — while their relationship has been rocky in recent years — the two recently reunited, according to the "...Baby One More Time" singer.
As Jamie Lynn further discussed her daughter's encouragement to join Dancing With the Stars, she told Spencer, "She's an athlete. I think she wanted to see me push myself."

The Zoey 101 star was joined on set by her DWTS partner Alan Bersten, who revealed that things are already off to a good start.
"We had our first rehearsal," the dancing pro said. "It's been great. Jamie Lynn is so hard-working and so dedicated. It's actually so much fun. We get along so well."
Jamie Lynn also announced plans for her Dancing With the Stars appearance to be a charitable mission, vowing to donate her weekly salary to striking SAG and WGA members.
"Even if I embarrass myself, I'm doing it for a good reason," she said. "I'm giving back to a community that's literally given back to me since I was a little girl."
Jamie Lynn joins previously announced cast members Ariana Madix and Charity Lawson on Season 32 of Dancing With the Stars, which premieres Sept. 26 on ABC.
Last month, The Messenger also exclusively revealed that actress Mira Sorvino is expected to join the cast.
The full cast for Season 32 of Dancing With the Stars will be announced Wednesday on Good Morning America.
