An editor on Saw X, the new installment of the infamously gory horror film franchise, had the police called on him when neighbors heard screaming and thought someone was actually being tortured to death.

Director Kevin Greutert told NME that first assistant editor Steve Forn was working on the sound design for the movie's gruesome "eye vacuum trap" scene when the LAPD showed up at his office in North Hollywood, Calif.

"There was a knock at the door," Greutert recalled. "We have the doorbell [camera] video of the police walking up, [Forn answering the door] and the police saying, 'The neighbors [have been] calling and saying someone's being tortured to death in here.'"

"And he was like, 'Actually, I'm just working on a movie…you can come in and see it if you want?' The cops started laughing! They said, 'We want to but, you know, you're all right.' It must have been a pretty realistic performance!"

Greutert, who has directed three Saw films and edited seven, added, "It's a pretty funny story… Plus Steve is such a mild-mannered guy. I can only imagine the look on his face when he realized what was happening!"

Saw X hit theaters Friday. Set between the events of the original 2004 movie and its 2005 sequel, the film follows John Kramer (aka Jigsaw)'s quest for revenge after traveling to Mexico for cancer treatment only to find out he's been scammed.
