Ryan Gosling Releases 3 New Versions of ‘I’m Just Ken’ for Christmas
Ryan Gosling and the 'Barbie' team have dropped an EP featuring 3 new songs in the style of 'I'm Just Ken'
Ryan Gosling has teamed up with producer Mark Ronson for some all-new renditions of "I'm Just Ken" from Barbie just in time for the holidays.
On Wednesday, Gosling, Ronson and the team behind Barbie announced the release of an EP with four tracks, including three brand-new parody tracks including a Christmas song.
Featuring new vocal recordings from Gosling, the first track to be released from the EP is titled "I'm Just Ken (Merry Kristmas Barbie)" and uses festive-sounding bells and keyboards to get listeners and Barbie fans into the holiday spirit.
The team also released an official music video for the Christmas edition of the track, featuring a sultry performance from Gosling with Ronson on the guitar.
“There’s just a worry if we do too much Christmas no one’s going to watch it after the 26th,” Gosling says. He is quickly reassured that that won’t be the case and proceeds to lay down the track, but not before throwing on Ken’s signature shades — because “the world can have Ken’s voice, but only Barbie can have his eyes.”
For Barbie fans that don't celebrate or are sick of Christmas, the EP also features a '70s disco-style cover titled "I'm Just Ken — Purple Disco Machine Remix" as well as strings-centric "I'm Just Ken — In My Feelings Acoustic," which features a string section and even more backup vocals.
