Rage Against the Machine were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on Friday, alongside a roster of fellow honorees including Willie Nelson and Missy Elliott. Guitarist Tom Morello attended the event at Brooklyn's Barclays Center and gave an acceptance speech for the band, while the other three members were absent. On Saturday, meanwhile, vocalist Zack de la Rocha was spotted in Washington, D.C., where he marched in support of Palestine.

De la Rocha was spotted among thousands marching on the Capitol, calling for a ceasefire on Gaza. Sunny Singh, a popular videographer who runs the hate5six YouTube channel and filmed portions of Rage Against the Machine's reunion tour last year, posted a picture with de la Rocha, captioned, "300,000 of us marched on D.C. today in support of Palestinian self-determination and called for an end to Israel’s genocide. Cell service tanked the livestream but I ran into Zack de la Rocha who came out for the march."

In addition to De La Rocha, Rage bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk were also absent from Rock Hall ceremony.

"Like most bands, we have differing perspectives on a lot of things, including being inducted into the Rock Hall," Morello said during his acceptance speech on Friday. "My perspective is tonight is the great opportunity to celebrate the music and the mission of the band, to celebrate with the fifth member of the band: Rage Against the Machine’s incredible fans. The best way to celebrate this music is for you to carry on that mission and that message."

After reuniting last July, Rage Against the Machine cancelled a large number of remaining 2022 and 2023 tour dates due to continued complications from de la Rocha's foot injury. In July 2022, the vocalist injured his leg during a show and finished the performance seated.

"It’s been almost three months since Chicago, and I still look down at my leg in disbelief," De la Rocha wrote in a statement at the time. "Unfortunately it is a moment that requires a lot of work and healing. I have a severe tear in my left Achilles tendon and only 8% of my tendon was left intact. And even that portion was severely compromised. It’s not simply a question of being able to perform again, but extends to basic functionality going forward."

The band have broken up and reunited twice in the past. There's been no word on any rescheduling of the missed 2022 and 2023 dates. Meanwhile, De La Rocha made a guest appearance in October at a show by Rage tour openers Run the Jewels.
