Prince William took the time to greet New York City Fire Department officials at FDNY Ten House while visiting Manhattan on Tuesday.

The Duke of Cambridge shook the hands of officials, "including Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh, at the firehouse across from the 9/11 Memorial in downtown Manhattan," according to a video posted to X (formerly Twitter).

Followers were quick to praise the Prince of Wales for his actions, with one social media user writing, "As a FDNY Family member, I LOVE this. 9/11 is every day for us. Lovely of him to honor our heroes on just a random day."

Another added, "This means so much to the people of New York City after 9/11. Thank you, Prince William, for visiting the FDNY today. Many Blessings," while one X user added, "You can hear the loud cheer for the future King. New Yorkers showing their love and support for Prince William."

Prince William is currently stateside for this week's Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit.

The longtime environmental activist founded The Earthshot Prize two years ago to help find solutions to "repair and regenerate the planet." He was on hand at New York City's Plaza Hotel to reveal this year's 15 finalists and introduce their strategies to accelerate change. Five solutions will be awarded £1 million.

The upcoming 3rd Earthshot Prize Awards are scheduled for Nov. 7 in Singapore.

"I think Singapore is a gateway to [the] Southeast Area; it's a new region," Prince William previously explained. "We know the innovation sectors there are huge, and technology is booming there. Singapore is a city of nature, so they get it. It's really exciting what's going to happen in Singapore."
