Pink's 6-year-old son is embracing his confidence thanks to advice the Grammy winner gave him after he was mistaken for a girl.

"With my son, this was a seminal moment: He's like, 'Mom, everyone calls me a girl,'" Pink — who shares son Jameson Moon and 12-year-old daughter Willow Sage with husband Carey Hart — recalled in a recent interview with The Los Angeles Times. "And I'm like, 'That's because you have long hair, buddy, and people are still hung up on these really old-fashioned societal norms.'"

The singer, who proudly rocks her signature pixie cut, told her son that she's often mistaken for a male.

"I told him people call me 'sir' all the time, especially from behind and especially at airports. And he looked at me and was like, 'Really?' I said, 'Yeah. I don't care. Call me 'sir,' call me whatever, just stay out of my way."

"He liked that," the mom of two told the publication of Jameson's response. "And now he gets called a girl and he just looks at me and winks."

Earlier this year, Pink confessed that she was afraid she'd be a "terrible" mom.

"I did not know I was going to have a family. I didn't picture that for myself because I was terrified I would be a terrible mother," Pink, who married Hart in 2006, told People magazine in February. "But, oh my God, being a mom is the most incredible thing I've ever done. It's shocking how responsible I've become."

She added of balancing being a superstar mom and singer, "I want to be the best I can be at everything, and it's never good enough; it's f---ing impossible. But I love being a mom, I love music, and I'm dumb lucky I get to do all of these things. I count my blessings every single day."
