‘Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal’ Season 2 Trailer Digs Deeper Into the Trial and Aftermath
The new season will feature interviews with some key people involved in the twisty true crime tale
Netflix has released the trailer for the upcoming second season of Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal, and it looks like audiences will be hearing from some key people associated with the trial of Alex Murdaugh, including, perhaps most intriguingly, "Cousin Eddie" aka Curtis Edward Smith, who was allegedly involved in the roadside shooting incident that twisted the story into even wilder knots.
The second season, which will premiere on Sept. 20, will also include interviews with some of the people who testified at Murdaugh's double murder trial, wherein he was convicted of killing his wife, Maggie, and son, Paul. Among those interviewed are housekeeper Blanca Turrubiate-Simpson and caretaker Mushelle "Shelly" Smith, as well as trial juror Gwen Generette, journalist Valerie Bauerlein and former associates of Paul Murdaugh, like Anthony Cook and ex-girlfriend Morgan Doughty.
The first season of Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal was one of the most remarkable docuseries to come from the ever-captivating story of Alex Murdaugh's downfall. The one drawback to the initial season was that it was released ahead of the trial, so it wasn't as current as some of other series and specials about the murders. However, it was still a standout in the swath of Murdaugh docuseries for its original home video footage of boat crash victim Mallory Beach, as well as the testimonials of folks like Doughty. Season 2 looks to pick up right where the first season left off to finish the story — at least, until the next big twist emerges in the case.
Season 2 will consist of three half-hour-long episodes.
