‘Seinfeld’ Star Michael Richards Announces New Memoir
'Entrances and Exits,' which features a foreword by Jerry Seinfeld, will be out next June
Michael Richards, the Emmy Award-winning actor and comedian who played Cosmo Kramer on Seinfeld for nine seasons from 1989 to 1998, has announced a new memoir out next year via Permuted Press.
"I am thrilled to present to the world Entrances and Exits, the long-awaited memoir by Michael Richards, whose side-splitting antics as Cosmo Kramer on Seinfeld have entertained generations of viewers and left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape," Anthony Ziccardi, Publisher of Permuted Press, said in a statement.
"This book captures all the wit, irreverence and outrageousness of the beloved Kramer character, while also parting the curtain of Michael's private life to reveal the background and experiences that helped shape his destiny and eventually catapult him to the top of his profession and 'must-see-TV' immortality."
In the memoir, which features a foreword written by Jerry Seinfeld, Richards shares stories about being raised by his schizophrenic grandmother and serving in the United States Army after being drafted in 1970 and gives a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Seinfeld.
Richards also reflects on beginning a "lifelong spiritual quest" for accountability in the wake of the "shameful," career-damaging incident when he was filmed shouting racial slurs at hecklers during a 2006 stand-up performance in Los Angeles.
"My book is a hymn to the irrational, the senseless spirit that breaks the whole into pieces, a reflection on the seemingly absurd difficulties that intrude upon us all," Richards writes in the introduction.
Entrances and Exits is set to be released in June 2024.
