A leather jacket worn by Michael Jackson in a 1984 Pepsi ad has sold at a London auction for £250,000, or $306,000 USD.

Jackson donned the garment nearly 40 years ago, while still riding high on the success of 1982's Thriller, in the first of a series of commercials for the brand. The item had been expected to go as high as £400,000 ($489K), per the BBC.

The Pepsi series is notoriously remembered for an accident in which Jackson's hair caught fire filming one of the spots, causing him to sustain serious burns. He was wearing a different jacket, however, during that particular incident.

The item was among more than 200 pieces of music memorabilia sold in London on Friday. Other items available included a George Michael jacket worn while duetting with Aretha Franklin in "I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)," and an Amy Winehouse beehive hairpiece.

Other pieces linked to such musicians as David Bowie, Oasis, Queen, the Smiths' Johnny Marr, Elvis Presley and the Beatles were additionally up for auction.
