Following her daytime talk show tenure, Meghan McCain is opening up about the mental toll it took.

Without naming the show, McCain said she "felt like the whole world hated me" during her time on The View, as she spoke to Geraldo Rivera on Thursday's episode of her Meghan McCain Has Entered the Chat podcast.

"All the drama you saw onstage, it was 50 times more atomic backstage," she said. "For me, I just had a baby, and life is too short to be bringing home this kind of anger."

McCain added, "By the end, I was a mess, I was crying every night to my husband and was like, 'What am I doing with my life?' I felt like the whole world hated me ... and I was like this dirty Republican on this show."

Often butting heads politically with co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar, McCain was a co-host on the ABC talk show from 2017 until 2021, when she departed with two years remaining on her contract.

While reflecting on her time at The View, McCain recently told The Messenger she doesn't "watch it at all" since her exit.

"Partly it's just because of my lifestyle," she explained. "I don't have time to watch this kind of content. I do listen to a lot of podcasts. And you know, it's kind of like looking at an ex-boyfriend's Instagram, it's just not great for you. So no, I don't watch."
